The production of seats is both difficult and simple. Two or three people and a leather sewing machine can wrap a leather chair. The surface looks OK, but it is much worse to the experts.
The pattern making of leather chairs is the most basic and important work. It is an important indicator to measure the quality of leather chairs. The pattern of leather chairs is checked by experienced professional technicians. After the pattern is determined, the production process begins.
The first step is to cut the leather. A piece of cowhide is about 40 to 50 square feet. The leather and leather surface of the cow's back are the best parts of a piece of leather. They are generally used for the backrest and cushion of the seat, because these two parts of the seat are under long-term pressure and friction, and are also the parts that we can see most easily. The leather surface of the cow's stomach and neck is poor, and is generally used for the skirt of the seat or the parts that are not easy to see. Leather, like cloth, has a certain stretching direction. Some leather chairs have bumps after sitting for one or two months, mostly due to improper leather cutting direction.
The second step is sewing. After the leather is cut, it enters the sewing process. There are also some particularities here. Generally, a 12 to 15 mm thick sponge with a mesh bottom is placed under the leather, also called super-strength cotton. Be aware that some stores cut corners here. When sewing, it is very important whether the workers are skilled. Once the leather is sewn, it cannot be changed, otherwise it will leave obvious pinholes on the leather. When checking, you should also pay attention to whether the visible stitches are uniform, whether the leather heads are exposed, whether there are burrs and thread ends, and whether the thread and leather colors are consistent.
The third step is to put the seat cover on the seat. It is simple to say, but it is not so easy to do. When putting the seat cover on, the leather cover will be torn or scratched if you are not careful. After putting it on, you should pat and pull the leather cover to stick it to the seat. The pins for fixing the leather cover should be rust-proof, and the size and tightness of the pins should be consistent. When assembling the seat, the seams between the seat cushion and the back cushion should be symmetrical and neat.
The fourth step is to reinstall the seat. The space in the door and the interior of the car is limited. The size of the seats is not small and they are heavy. When reinstalling, you must avoid scratching the seat surface and not touching the car paint. Therefore, you must follow the reinstallation process requirements. Otherwise, if you are not careful, all your efforts will be wasted.
Generally, it takes 3 to 4 hours to make a leather seat for a five-seater car.
After using the leather seat for a period of time, some car owners will encounter some troubles:
1. Bubbling: also called delamination, mainly due to the quality of the glue. Try to use imported leather.
2. Needlework cracks: a legacy problem in materials or craftsmanship. Find a store to repair.
3. Fading: a quality problem of the leather itself. Try to choose imported leather.
4. Deformation: mainly concentrated in the seat cushion and backrest. It is a problem of operating technology, and the leather is not cut according to the texture.
